Sustainable Development Goals

We engage in initiatives that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Goal 2 “Zero Hunger”: The polishing factory in Laos offers its employees a complimentary breakfast and lunch on a daily basis.

Goal 3 “(Maternal) health”: The Laos factory has a fully equipped day-care centre that offers free-of-charge services to employees with newborn children.

Goal 4 “Quality Education”: The Laos factory has a training centre where all new employees are taught to read, write and perform basic mathematics. The centre also informs new employees on healthcare, family planning and the general life in the city as the latter can be a hurdle for upcountry recruits.

Goal 5 “Gender Equality”: We provide equal pay and equal opportunities for males and females throughout the organization.

Goal 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”: Our head office in Antwerp is constructed in a sustainable way, keeping in mind efficient use of resources.

Goal 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production”: We take initiatives at the polishing factories aimed at boosting energy efficiency, reducing power consumption and cutting waste to support sustainable operations.

Goal 13 “Climate Action”: In 2016, our carbon footprint was calculated at 1.741 tons of CO2. Subsequently, we identified CO2 reduction opportunities throughout the organization and have started implementing a carbon reduction strategy.
